Developing Advanced Manufacturing Curriculum for Community Colleges

The RCNGM collaborates on a number of different programs with the Connecticut Business and Industry Association (CBIA). Recently, the RCNGM has collaborated through a teacher externship program that has resulted in the implementation of two certificate programs:

1) Lean Manufacturing
2) Supply Chain Management

Today's fiercely competitive global-marketplace mandates a United States workforce capable of competing globally. The increased demand for innovative products and services has led to relentless challenges for manufacturers. Throughout Connecticut and western Massachusetts, employers in manufacturing, such as, the aerospace, metal and medical device industries are looking for skilled CNC machinists and programmers in response the RCNGM has developed innovative techniques to meet advanced manufacturing companies' workforce needs. The collaboration between RCNGM and CBIA continues to work in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Labor to design and develop new opportunities, solutions and programs in order to meet the manufacturing industries projected demands.
